Humyo is a UK based online and colloborative/sharing service. Datacentres based in Manchester. Generally provides a very clean and smooth service – the web user interface is particularly impressive and relies on Java technology to provide functionality such as uploading/downloading multiple files.
Pros
- Supports Windows and Macs
- Good, clean, intuitive web interface
- Very good collaborative functionality
- Priced in £ sterling
- Generally excellent Windows client (has improved since I last tried Humyo a few months back)
Cons
- Web interface’s Java components do not work properly with OS X and Firefox – requires Safari to work
- Backup client fiddly and does not accurate reflect the progress of transfer
- Additional cost for historical backups/file versioning
- Mac backup client still needs a lot of work
I did find that I had a lot of trouble forcing the backup client to restrict the amount of bandwidth it should use and ultimately this is what put me off using Humyo as a sync service.

I’m part of the UI Team over at humyo.com and would like to thank you for your feedback within this review.
You mention that historical backups/file visioning was only available at an additional cost, this is not the case. We offer unlimited file versions for all Premium and Workspace users and 30 days worth for Free users. I would be interested to know why you thought it was a paid extra though so we can correct it.
Both the Windows and OSX SmartDrive clients are under constant development to the entire process as simple as possible.
With regards to the Java client not working in Firefox on OSX I must state that this does not stop you from using humyo.
It merely disabled some advanced features that are only possible with Java such as multiple file uploads, downloads of entire folders and editing files directly on humyo. OSX users who use Firefox can still upload and download individually, until we can resolve the problem.
