The sixteenth billion remake/reimagining of The Wizard of Oz: Presenting the CG-filled crap that is Oz The Great and Powerful

Oh Sam Raimi, how could you?!

Yes, another Baum book series being exploited. Yes, it’s got lots of CG. Yes, it’s Disney.

Excuse me while I facepalm myself to death over money being spent on this sort of crap. The whole thing feels so artificial that I’m surprised Raimi just didn’t get Pixar to animate the entire bloody thing from start to finish.

$200 MILLION to create a CG-crapfest based a series that’s been adapted, re-imagined and rebooted more times than I care to count? $200 MILLION? I realise that Disney have never really commissioned original stories, having mainly adapted or borrowed stuff from books – but let’s just repeat that figure – $200 MILLION for a god-damn remake? I feel exactly the same way about the James Bond franchise too.

And just when does CG start and end before you can call a film “animated” I ask myself?
