Oi, Hollywood/British Film Industry – why no British superhero movies?

Kick-Ass has got me thinking: why the hell are there no British superheros in the movies? The only one I can think of as an adaptation would be Marvel’s Captain Britain (created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe).

Given Marvel Studios (aka Disney) are currently on overdrive with their movie and television output, it’d be nice to see an adaptation – or alternatively (and here’s an idea) a whole new British superhero. I’m not talking about the like of Misfits which is intriguing to a point, but this whole gritty suburban “thing” has been done to death.

No I’m talking about a proper original British superhero with proper powers and everything. If anybody suggests Bananaman: The Movie, they will get a slap.

Mark Millar or Jonathan Ross would be good at creating something like that.
