Arse!
Alas, the one job I really wanted - really was enthusiastic about - has now gone. I mucked it up with an interview performance that essentially made me look like a human Muppet (at least in my eyes, and judging by the email - theirs too). Technical skills - no problem. But apparently I didn't fit in with how the Serbian team wanted (despite having worked alongside developers in countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Poland and Germany without any difficulty). The problem for me was this was the first proper interview I've had in two and a half years, plus I am dealing with the fallout of being made redundant which is stressful enough as it is.
Somewhat ironically I had another interview the same day and thought that went slightly better (though I am still waiting to hear back on that one - if I ever do). But ultimately, I think I may just not be good at the interview process. What I am good at is getting down and doing the job, and working with people to achieve company goals. I have receipts (appraisals) that stipulate that. But nobody asks for those anymore!
So it's back to the drawing board. Over 110 jobs applied for, 30 have come back as rejections. So there is still a possibility of something happening. Plus it's still August and quite a few folks are on holiday, so there will be delays.
