Nothing to phone home about..
Thought I'd give this role a go at the Nothing phone company (which has one of the worst websites I've ever come across - they don't just need a new IT Support Manager, they need a new web designer too), given that I can do everything they have asked for in the job description. But, alas, I suspect they could smell that I was an Apple fanboy - though given this farce of managing icons in iOS 26 beta public 4 (but has been present since iOS 18), it is enough to turn anybody into an Android user.
But seriously, it's really rather depressing. I have all this experience and no company wants to employ me (yet). Is it my age? Is it my salary expectations (which I've subsequently have had to bring down considerably)? I suspect the answer is the those that match that particular position are indeed younger and cheaper.

Also - I really wished the RFCs banned no reply emails. At least I'm old enough to know what an RFC is, and I doubt any of the candidates for most of these kind of roles do. So, thanks for nothing, Nothing.
But it's also interesting that Nothing chose a .tech domain. Since 2015, the proliferation of new TLDs has been a boon for spammers, phishers and other kind of scammers - especially cheap domains (and .tech domains are only $10/year with a registrar like Namecheap). While the usual email authentication methods help with that, I still view these kind of domains with a kind of suspicion - and apparently so do email providers.
And why do application forms never ask for references or other credentials that can back up the experience shown in my CV and LinkedIn profile? I have put my certifications (LPIC-1 and ITIL Foundation) on LinkedIn as proof, but seems to have achieved.. nothing.
